Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg.

Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes were the backbone behind this great invention, the three brains were Mark Zuckerbergs college mates and room fellows when he was a student at the Harvard University.

The website’s membership was initially limited to Harvard students, but it later expanded further to include any university student. In late 2005, it was open to
high school students, and finally, in 2006, Facebook became available to anyone aged 13 and over with a valid e-mail address.

Facebook was once only available through a computer, however; in 2006 applications became available that make Facebook available through mobile phones, PDAs, iPods and other mp3 devices. There are more than 65 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices.
